The data we collect
The table below provides an overview of the data we collect in ELSA.
At each wave of ELSA, interviewers have asked respondents to complete a core self-completion questionnaire covering questions such as wellbeing, relationships, alcohol consumption.
A nurse visit has also been carried out in waves 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9 during which various physical examination and performance data have been obtained, and biological samples collected for analysis.
Other modules have been added to the main interview in specific waves which are all available on our study documentation page:
-
Wave 3: Self-completion on health and a self-completion on work
-
Waves 6 and 8: Self-completion on sexual activity and relationships
-
Wave 9: Online nutrition survey.
